The head of the National Association of Funeral Directors (NAFD) says that photos of deceased kids and young adults have become increasingly impressive.
“I remember in the 80’s and 90’s when we had all of these boring photos of the dead. They’d have red demon eyes from disposable cameras or be blurry and out of focus,” said NAFD Chairman Timothy McCabe. “But today everyone’s photos look fucking amazing! There truly is some on fleek photography coming in. It’s crazy to say it, but you almost wish they weren’t dead.”
NAFD cites the trends of planking, the peace sign with duckface, Faith Hilling, T-posing, Tebowing, the old school bunny ears, and the classic dabbing motion as playing key roles in the increased photo quality.

“Plus all of the dead kids look so much more attractive now with the filters and Photoshop technology that we have today,” McCabe said. “It’s really heartwarming to show these photos and very few funeral attendees ever complain about catfishing.”
Additionally, the NAFD stated that although the quality of photos of the dead youth have really gone up, it often takes families weeks to select the best pictures because “this is typically the life’s work and greatest accomplishment of younger people who have passed on.”
