McDonald’s to Open 375,000 New Restaurants: One for Each Employee

McDonald’s has announced that it will be adding approximately 375,000 new locations, bringing their total number of establishments from 36,900 to 411,900. The radical move is aimed at improving the lives of each and every one of their employees.

The incredible increase in locations worldwide will be the largest and fastest expansion in history. President and CEO of McDonald’s, Steve Easterbrook explained the company’s decision.

“This move will allow for every single worker to move up the ladder and manage their own McDonald’s – proving the timeless conservative notion that all minimum wage workers have the opportunity to succeed in life,” said Easterbrook. “When you think about it, we’ve essentially brought the American dream to fruition across the globe.”

With the average, full-time McDonald’s worker in the U.S. earning $20,800 per year, McDonald’s can now boast that it pays workers more than U.S. poverty level wages.

Other restaurants like Taco Bell and Wendy’s have signaled that they will follow McDonald’s lead.
