Pastor Greg Laurie used to call me about five times a week at various times and tell me that the struggle to maintain religious liberty and control over complete strangers would be THE civil rights issue of a certain part of our society and generation. His words now seem prophetic.
On Thursday Pastor Laurie’s utterances were fulfilled by the overreaching hands of the United States Government. It wasn’t Obama taking our guns, it wasn’t Sharia Law taking over OUR country, and it wasn’t another government program to help the poor or sick.
(Not yet at least. God Willing – hopefully never.)
It was in the Commonwealth of Kentucky where Judge David Bunning forced God-fearing U.S. Marshalls to arrest Kim Davis – the noble and righteous clerk of Rowan County, Kentucky.
Davis is a devout Christian, just like myself, and many of my readers. Her personal beliefs focus heavily on certain parts of The Old Testament, while skimming over many other segments for peace-of-mind. She rightfully refuses to give licenses to the 19 openly gay couples in Kentucky because letting homosexuals marry would violate her own conscience – the inner voice or learned-from-childhood views that come from GOD and substantiates our deeply held personal opinions.
Judge Bunning has denied any accommodation to Davis’ personal religious beliefs when it comes to the lives of others. He refuses to see how important it is to be able for people like myself to be able to not only judge, but impact a complete stranger’s own personal lives and relationships.
I firmly believe that Judge Bunning is an atheist who is trying to intimidate our CHRISTIAN NATION that was clearly set up by the Founding Fathers to be just that – a GOD-FEARING CHRISTIAN NATION.
As they say. It’s Adam and Eve, NOT Adam And Steve. Because Adam and Eve had 2 sons that went on to populate AMERICA!

“She rightfully refuses to give licenses to the 19 openly gay couples in Kentucky”
I’m a devout Christian myself and even I know that she took an oath to uphold constitutional law. She is not a pastor and Rowan County is not a church. That in mind, one can recognize that her refusal to issue marriage licences is a violation of:
• The oath she took to uphold her office and serve the people of Rowan County.
• The Establishment Clause in the 1st Amendment of the Constitution
• The Equal Protection Clause of the 14th Amendment of the Constitution.
Quite frankly, if she is unable to serve all persons in Rowan County, Kentucky because of her religious convictions, then she should resign. If she is unwilling to resign, then she is guilty of official misconduct.
“Judge Bunning has denied any accommodation to Davis’ personal religious beliefs when it comes to the lives of others.”
Even if it was legal to do so, why in the the world would anyone accommodate Kim Davis’ singular religious beliefs when there are literally tens of thousands of additional denominational beliefs in the world today?
“I firmly believe that Judge Bunning is an atheist…
A -VERY- short internet search reveals that he’s not an atheist. Below is a quote from the New York Times SEPT. 3, 2015 edition:
“On Thursday, Judge Bunning found Ms. Davis in contempt for defying the federal court and ordered her held in jail. “Her good faith belief is simply not a viable defense,” the judge, wearing a bow tie, said from the bench. He noted that, “I myself have genuinely held religious beliefs,” but added that he took an oath of office to uphold the law. “Mrs. Davis took an oath,” he said “Oaths mean things.””
“…who is trying to intimidate our CHRISTIAN NATION that was clearly set up by the Founding Fathers to be just that – a GOD-FEARING CHRISTIAN NATION.”
There are two things your post very clearly indicates.
1. You are no constitutional scholar
2. You are no theologian, much less a biblical scholar
The United States is a democratic republic which was established to escape the tyranny of the British Monarchy which has a state-established religion; Christianity. We are a nation in which Christians like you and me live, but that’s it. We are not a “Christian Nation” and I hope we never become one. The day that we do become a “Christian Nation” will be the day that we look like Iran, Iraq, Syria, Pakistan, etc. Those are nations whose laws are based on interprtation of their religion and they are all on the brink of destruction.
In that we are a democratic-republic where ALL citizens have the right to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness, we have a duty to respect our secular laws.
