Numbers released today by the American Yachting Association reveal that a record amount of ‘superyachts’ were sold last year in the United States. Economists and the super rich alike say this is a sign that the American poor and middle class still know their fucking place.
“It’s a great time to be rich,” Jeff Bezos grinned. “And we really couldn’t ask for more from the simple, hardworking commoners who make all of this possible. Well we shouldn’t, but we’re still gonna do it. We’re going to ask for more because the problem we’re having now is that there simply aren’t enough yachts available for purchase and I want another one.”
In total, 887 superyachts were sold last year – a 77% increase from the year before. The record number of sales has led to a superyacht shortage, but some experts say that a lack of supply isn’t necessarily a bad thing.
“If you look at yacht sales and juxtapose this with the fact that 54% of Americans live paycheck to paycheck, you will see very clearly that the poors and middle class still know their fucking place,” Bezos stated. “Right now they’re still doing what they’re told. They just need to pick up the pace on the yacht building.”
