TX Republicans Pass Bill That Says It’s No Longer Required To Teach That The KKK Is ‘Morally Wrong’
The Republican Texas Senate passed a bill today that eliminates requirements that schools teach that the Ku Klux Klan and white supremacy are “morally wrong.”
Previously, Texas students were also taught about Martin Luther King Jr.’s “Letter from a Birmingham Jail” and “I Have a Dream” speech among other writings; this will also no longer be required. Other topics that have also been dropped include women’s suffrage and equal rights, the Chicano movement, the institution of slavery and the eugenics movement. Here’s what people are saying:
“History has a liberal bias and it’s time that we adjusted for it.” – Frank Lieberman, 74, overt racist
“When calling the KKK ‘morally wrong’ is too difficult for your party, it’s time to leave your party.” – Father Michael Gentry, 69, hypocrite
“So you’re saying that the same people who don’t want the loser, traitorous, racist Confederate statues removed also don’t want anyone to learn that the KKK is evil? What a shocker!” – Daniel Tanman, 47, unscheduled volunteer lifeguard
“Why teach the children history when we can just let them learn firsthand by repeating it instead!?” – Trisha ‘Gwen’ Stevens, 49, No Doubt cover band singer
